Mid Ohio Wedding

Seems like September was the month for weddings this year. Over the weekend we enjoyed a beautiful drive across Ohio to a wedding of some dear friends of ours. We live on the eastern side of the state, and the wedding was just on the other side of Columbus which is in the center. So for those of you who do not get to see Ohio's countryside.. you can look out the window as you go along with me..

Looks like hurricane Ike didn't spare them over here either. Many many trees down, just like home..
Here is the church, nestled in a cornfield..
This was a Beechy Amish church.. which was the bride's side of the family. It was an interesting mix of dress, since the groom's side was not of the same religion. The church building was beautiful and everyone looked so nice. I was pretty sure I'd be out of place taking pictures during the ceremony, so these are as folks were gathering..
This little fellow was the ring bearer.. and he was showing off his missing tooth.. The groom was one of our kid's longtime childhood buddies, and my boys both stood with him at the ceremony.
There was a beautiful reception several miles away.. so we got to enjoy more of the scenery..

The hall was decorated with chiffon, lights and an ice sculpture.

While waiting for the party, we enjoyed nibbling on the cookies..
There were so many.. I brought a little plate of them home and am having one right now with my coffee :-)
The kids are staying here a couple more days before they all go back to their homes. My one son and my daughter's birthdays are in September, so we're celebrating by going out for dinner and a concert this evening.
Hope you are all enjoying the first days of Autumn..
Next week I'll get back to sewing!

Hia Eileen, my Ohio is so beautiful! What an unusual wedding in such a pretty place. The reception was stunning with those lights. I hope the couple will be very happy together.

Have a great time with your children while they visit.

Illinois and Ohio look the same, but you made me think, that we are used to seeing flat land, horses and cornfields, but seeing your pictures makes me realize how beautiful our part of the country is, Thank you! What a beautiful wedding, love the color of the dresses. So everyone baked cookies, I would have loved that!! Enjoy you time with the kids and drive safe, Jane

Great photos! My photos taken from the car aren't so nice. I always seem to get mirrors and things in the way! LOL

Beautiful wedding! I was at a wedding this weekend too. Those Amish must have been more liberal than some, my dad had an employee who married an Amish girl (he was Mennonite) and they disowned her!!!
Thanks for sharing the pictures of the countryside it's always fun to see the scenery other places!!

Those photos are wonderful! Thanks for sharing them...that little ring bearer photo made me smile as my grandson has just lost his front tooth, too. They are so cute at that age. Great landscapes photos, too...made me want to visit Ohio again!
