But look how cute this cut-up denim shirt is looking in the middles! The completed block is 12", and the sashing is going to be what you see around the edges. It is a percale sheet that does not have a matching fitted bottom or pillow cases, so it will also be used as the backing. These are 3" squares cut from scraps in my stash. Some are Every Iota from the quilt I made for my daughter ..
..and other pieces of this and that. The one in the upper left corner below is a really sweet Japanese lawn.. and the square next to the corner one on the bottom row is from Candace Reiter's Beach Cats and Dogs Collection by "In The Beginning".. the blue, red, white and yellow flowers. I love that one. It must be older, because I can't find a link to the collection anymore.
It is starting to get steamy outdoors, so I got the flower pots watered early, and cut some fresh roses and peonies to bring in the house.. to breath in with delight as I walk by. Or just turn around while I'm sewing and enjoy, with the nice cool little window a/c blowing, which I thank God for every single day it is above 90F degrees. Life is truly very good.

Amen about the a/c. The heat index is 101 here right now but going higher as the day progresses.
Your peonies are so pretty! I love the way the quilt is coming together, especially the shirt parts in the middle!
i absolutely love your blocks! so colorful and pretty and the denim pieces add just the right touch! i may have to be a copy-cat...=)
Your quilt is looking gorgeous! Of course it is right up my street with a recycled pocket in the middle!!!! Lucy x
Eileen, these are beautiful, wish I could make that...but then I would have to buy a sewing machine first LOL :)
Those blocks using the denim are absolutely gorgeous I love the colour combination effect. Such an unusual idea too. I'd love to join in your challenge with the octagons and squares (Ice Windows) if I can.
I love your green vase too- perfect with the white peonies.
Love your denim shirt blocks - looks really effective and very summery. Good luck in using up your stash this summer!
With the first block in this post you give me a good idea for a shopping bag! I'm a patchwork-beginner and I only can sew little bags ;-))),..now look for a bigger project to learn more!!
Wish you a nice weekend,Ulla
What a great idea putting a denim shirt with placket pocket and all as a block. I have some denim work shirt that are too worn for uniforms but ther is as my mom would say "a lot of wear left in them"
