This Saturday we would be making a dress for Hitty. It was fun salvaging the fabric scraps out of the waste basket that everyone else thought were too small to use for anything. There are always mini-quilts though, right?? However I did manage to make a dress for one of my Hittys, because I thought this repro 30's fabric was darling.
And since getting together for fun usually involves food of some sort, we all take turns bringing goodies to eat. My contribution this time was the snack to have with our morning coffee. So I made butter cookies....
and banana bread.
Here is a little glimpse of our work table.
I was a little hesitant to blog about this, because I realize most of my readers are quilters and this might all seem a bit too weird. But playing with and sewing for dolls is a huge part of my life too. So now I guess you all know this about me!
Anyways. I have designated today as my Summer Stash Quilt Day. And I'm off to go work on it! There are some REALLY lovey and creative things coming about from this Challenge.. which I need to add btw was Ulla's idea to start with, I am just the logo-maker. We are thrilled to see so many joining in! Check out the blogs on the sidebar to see the progress.
Have a great Monday.

Your doll club seems to be such great fun! I only make doll's clothes for my Unicef dolls and they must be very child-friendly, no buttons and such are allowed. I hope you collected enough scraps to make a doll's quilt!
This appears to be so much fun! Don't ever hesitate to post about something that brings you joy. Please share more - I'd love to know more about this passion of yours. The dolls and dresses are delightful. :-)
Thank you so much for sharing! :-)
Your Hitty dolls are adorable! I can imagine how fun it is to collect them and to sew dresses for them!
The banana bread looks yummi!!I like to bake it too, my sons love it.
I'm having a lot of fun sewing the blocks for the challenge. I might get them all done by the end of the week!
Have a lovely week!
I completely agree with the above comment. ANYTHING that brings any kind of joy to your life should be celebrated and brought out into the open. Either it can open up a new avenue for someone else, OR it can show others that the secret joy that they experience is also wonderful.
I think that is such a special thing that you do. I think it shows such an instinctive part of human nature. SO very glad that you shared this! Kayce
I've never heard about the little wooden dolls before. Strange because I have 7 daughters, you'd have thought I'd have run into it somehwhere!! What a lovely hobby and a nice thing to do once a month. Its all all so lovely.
The dolls and their dresses are beautiful!
I was like Nanette and had never heard of Hitty and her adventures. Looked her up and was intrigued. I will tell my daughter about some of the adventures tonight before bed.
So glad that I stopped by...

Looks like have had a great time making dolls cloth, and for sure you should share this with us!
You are so lucky to have friends who are "doll makers". You can not always quilt!
And your cokies/ cake looks yummi, may I have a little bit? He he....
Eileen, I love the doll dress that you made with the 30's fabric! It is really sweet. I especially love the treats that you made, the cookies almost look too good to eat!
Well, after careful thought, I am going to join your summer stash challenge!! Call me crazy, but I also joined Peg's. We'll see how far I get, so I will post the button on my sidebar!
Come and sign up for my giveaway, it will help you to finish your stash quilts that you make for the summer. Have a terrific day!
Hia Eileen- no I've not heard of Hitty or the book either. Nice to have a group of people you can sew with regularly.
You'll be relieved to hear that I've finally finished the slow hand borders for the challenge and have been on the sewing machine today, so finally I have something to show. I'll try to do the sashing today before and after dinner. Exciting stuff!
Hi Eileen, this is very nice, to be able to do things together and sewing for dolls, how cute!! I am sure you daughter was pampered well with all her dolls having different outfits :)
Food..I love them, sure looks very good to me :)
How did I get to be 50 years old and never hear about this doll? Do you have a recommendation of where to get a Hitty doll? There are so many links! I want to give one a home!
We are hoping to head over to the library later this week. Definitely, Hitty will be in our sights.. Kayce
Lucky you, having Hitty-buddies to hang out with! I'm a quilter...and a fan of Hitty, so I don't see anything weird about it at all! LOL Keep having fun!!!
