Today some ladies got together again at the church to work on things. They asked me to make another quilt top so "we" can knot it for a comforter to put in the auction in the fall.. but seems like there are only two of us who end up knotting. The rest of them have other projects they bring to work on. Well, today neither of us had a whole lot of energy. Plus this was a bigger quilt top than the last one I made. So we ended up only making a few knots, the rest of the way we just ran the yarn in big long lengths with needles while it was taut in the frame, unpinned it and took it out, then I brought it home to cut the yarn and tie the knots. I almost forgot to take a picture, and remembered just before we took it out of the frame.
I was thinking.. this is almost actually like basting. So really.. if i wanted.. I could just go ahead and quilt this now with a hoop. I might have to think about that.
Anyways..in the mail this week there was a total surprise. My friend Melanie who lives in Southport sent me a "RAK" package. She said is stands for "Random Acts of Kindness". And she is a kind one. Plus she knows me! My presents were all wrapped in yellow.. LOVE yellow. Inside was all sorts of tea goodness sprinkled with lavender. ☺ Melanie knows this is one of my favorite fragrances, and there was some sachet, some laundry tablets and soap for hand washables. She also included a place setting that she made her very own self with her new lamination machine. These are pictures of her own beautiful roses that she grows or sees at the park nearby. I wish I could go live in by her. ☺

And some more tea goodness while I am waiting for my own swap to arrive..(Stephanie tells me it's on it's way).. a little gift she sent to all the participants. This cute little Tea Cottage with a bag of White Raspberry my daughter says is delicious. ☺ I can't believe how many of these Stephanie made! She is a crafty one!

More on that stuff later. ☺
Next week I simply MUST get our taxes done. And then get my B&W quilt put together and in the frame for Jackie's challenge, or I'll never have it finished by Christmas. I see I'm only going to get one made. I was shooting for two. All of my time management skills seem to have left me. I hope it doesn't get any worse. Maybe I need to start making lists again?.. I used to be a lot better at getting things accomplished. Now it just seems like I am always scrambling.
Hope you are having a lovely weekend.. spring is definitely here.

Hmmm, I think I would have told those other ladies to put their stuff away and come help. At least you got it layered.
You got a lot of goodies in the mail this week... And how nice of Melanie to send you that RAK...Lucky you!
Your quilt is beautiful by the way.
What a lovely post at your place today!! Your quilt is so beautiful and I realy hope someone will come and help you to knot it!
And Melanie is a real beauty, what a great gift you got from her!!
I love everything you had to share...and that lost hour has really played havoc with my week as well...I think I'm just now adjusting!
Great post today, Eileen. You made up for the whole week. I love your quilt and the scrappiness of it. Good luck with tying and/or quilting it.
Eileen glad you are back. I have missed ready your blog.
The quilt for the auction is simply spectacular!
I understand the need for list making! The quilt colors are so warm and cozy.
Melanie is so sweet. :o)
Cute little bunny by his Easter basket.
Such ambition - I'm amazed at how much you do and how generous you are.
ooo love your bunny! Mine are in a Spring green basket.
Bit rotton that it was just 2 of you on the quilt. Put salt in their tea next time. LOL
Yes I get through things much better with a list. I like the big tick I can draw. They also avoid the "what am I meant to be doing" feeling that hits me every morning as I sip my coffee. I am so not a morning person. :-)
Lovely pictures with a spring feeling! Too bad the "we" turned out to be "you", but we are all just human. The quilt top looks harmonious, I like all the colours. It will look great either way, quilted or knotted.
Melanie said it herself: she makes lists, and look how much she gets done! Secretly I think she is a Duracell bunny. She is such a sweet friend.
It seems like you have had a very busy week with some wonderful surprises. Isn't Melanie sweet! She was my swap partner and it was wonderful getting to know her a little better. I can't wait to see your B & W quilt in the frame... exciting!
Wonderful quilt. Would love to snuggle in it on a cold winter's day!
Nice RAK from Melanie too! Lucky girl!
What a sweet surprise from Melanie. I saw the roses on her blog and thought they were fantastic. I do like the quilt - but can sympathize with you. A list - that's what I need!
Our friend Melanie is one talented gal :D You have been super lucky with all these goodies in the mail, aww.. I love that bunny, so much fun to have them. Have a great week ahead.
Lovely quilt and thanks for the springtimey fabrics, basket and bunny...needed that, its raining here again.
The quilt came out beautifully.
Melanie's presents are so sweet.
Your easter decorations are so cute with the bunny and the spring fabrics.
i'm going to tie a few quilts this summer. it will be good for my ego. your scrap quilts look warm and cosy and that's what it's all about. & that Melanie sure does know how to be nice.
Love the roses. How fun to get a RIK package. Nice and it couldn't go to a better person. The quilt is great, too. Love scrappy quilts like that. Everything is so pretty.
What beautiful Items you received in the mail! Your top is lovely, I'm glad you snapped that last minute picture!
