Tuesday - This is The Way We...

Are you ironing the right way?

From "Little Housekeepers" copyright 1934.. illustrated by Fern Bisel Peat.

Well I have not been ironing Dolly's clothes, even though I probably should be. But I did hang hubby's khakis up straight from the dryer this morning. And I have been ironing as I go along on my Christmas Cottages Quilt Blocks... although I see maybe I need to sprinkle them and let them set in the roll for a little while longer.

These are what I have done so far.. added to the eight I showed previously. I'm making a few extras.. just in case....

(shhh..these are actually giraffes on the roof.. but maybe Santa needed some more helpers?)

(..and a blue one.. because someone said maybe I should add a blue one. :-) You know who you are..)
...in case of what? In case I decide to make my quilt a little bigger. Which I pretty much have already decided to do. Much to my delighted surprise, Belinda from Brown Dirt Cottage sent me a piece of her adorable house fabric! Already fussy-cut for me and everything. She also included some of the cutest pink candy windows that came from her grammy's stash. THANK YOU Belinda! I really can't say enough about how sweet this cottage is! But it is going to be one of the "extras" I am adding to my own. Sorry group. Wish I had more to blog about. I'm so boring lately. And I forgot my camera when I ran out to the produce market this morning. It would have been a gorgeous post too.. all the colorful fall foods and decorations to show you. I bought some acorn squash which we are having tonight for supper. And some cabbage to make cabbage bundles tomorrow night. Plus green beans, sweet corn and some concord grapes. The kind you squeeze into your mouth and throw away the skin. So delicious.

Next week I will try and remember my camera! The farm truly is beautiful. You should see it. Hope you are all having a nice Tuesday.

There is nothing boring about those cottages! I love them. I want to pet them and hold them. They are all so so cute! I love the giraffes on the roof, they look like reindeers from here but I have some too, so I know better! I love that fabric. They are all wonderful. You do such lovely things with fabric Eileen.

The little ironing story is so cute. Shows you how things have chagged, too. And not really for the better! Such a cute story and illustration.

ANd the vegetables - we will be crying because we dont' have any garden left very very soon.

The loveliness of your cottages continues. I would simply love one with that vintage green fabric.

Your houses are fabulous. All of you guys are doing such a great job. You could always show us how to make Cabbage rolls on your blog. That's one recipe I've never tried before.

Love your cottages! They look great. By the way, some people definitely have particular ways in which to iron. But in the scheme of things you do what works for you. I just love going to the farmer's market, everything is so fresh.

Hia Eileen, I love those acorn squashes- we don't have them here that I know of. They look like little black pumpkins for Halloween.

I do like your houses. I'm still waiting for that FQ of red boarding to arrive for my unofficial ones.

I had my own little flat iron when I was little. It was very heavy and I wasn't allowed to warm it in front of the fire either. I think my Nana had a rod shaped iron too for frills. I think it probably did a better job than some of the irons nowadays.

Such a sweet illustration. The only thing I like to iron is my fabric! Great cottages!!!

The cottages are really turning out great. I love to iron--it is the only CLEAN chore in the world of housework which tends to be dirty or messy or both! Beautiful veggies you found!

What a lovely ironing story! I used to iron that way when the steam of my iron wasn't working. Now I have a new iron, but still when I get the laundry off the line and ireon it when it is not quite dry, I get better results. - The cottages look so sweet; I'm excited to see the different quilts made with them.
We just recently talked about cabbage rolls and what a big job it is to make them. As long as our favourite industrially made rolls are available, I will not make them myself!

I think the giraffes could sort of pass for reindeer - and the ricrac around that roof is brilliant!

I love these houses so much. I picked up some sparkly ricrac the other day for the Christmas houses I plan to make. I've been adding some purple and green to my Halloween houses.

I just love this project.

Those cottages are BEAUTIFUL! I love the cats in the window and the reindeer fabric - and the rickrack border on the roof. I'll have to check now and see if you are in my group - hope so!
