Also this week I ordered some fabrics for the Tea Swap.. can't wait till it gets here. I thought he package would be in my mailbox today.. but nothing. Maybe tomorrow. I have my pattern all drawn up.. and just hope it turns out like the picture in my mind.
On the way out to have coffee with friends this morning.. the sun was shining.. and the weatherman promised a warmer day. But I was still freezing with a turtleneck, a pullover sweater, and a cardigan. Hopefully it really will warm up and melt all this away.
That is our buckeye horse chestnut tree.. waiting to pop out it's pretty white blossoms.. in three months or so..

Your Black and White Challenge blocks are coming along nicely. Are you piecing them by hand?

Eileen, your hexagon blocks are looking wonderful.
The picture of the chestnut tree is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!
Your blocks blocks are looking good!
Our house looks like your house--lots of snow. It is supposed to go to 40 tomorrow and that will be so amazing!
Yet winter is so cozy for sewing, art, soups & stews, old movies and music... I agree one can get lost in projects one loves like hand quilting.
i know exactly what you mean about some quilts. i almost like to not know what it's going to look like until it comes together. my repetitive task today is causing me to repeat "it's going to be beautiful" over & over. just to get through it.
Winter wonderland. I love your tree. And I love groundhog day. It was always a big deal growing up. Soon to be followed by fastnacht day! I miss those 2 days. Jealous of that black/white quilt.
LOL, I don't mind losing a week or two in January ... winter is just so darn loooonnnng!
Love your black and white blocks. How do you keep from getting dizzy while working on them??
Eileen I love the look of your black and white quilt. Like you, I love to hand quilt.
You are right about certain quilts, they can get repetitive. But in the end, the result is sooooo worth it and I just love your progress. I have to say that I think Punxsatawny Phil will surely see his shadow. Especially the way this winter is going.
Your black and white hexagon blocks are looking great....what a beautiful quilt this will be when finished. I agree there's nothing so relaxing as doing hand stitching/ quilting!
Your black and white blocks look super!
Is the groundhog there accurate? Not ours!
We're going back into the deep freeze come Saturday. Tomorrow will seem balmy at -4 -- much nicer than -25, which is what's coming!
Your black and white fabrics work really well with this pattern! I always find sewing corners (by machine) so difficult. Maybe I should give it a try now when I have a quilting foot with the 1/4 in marks.
I don't think I could ever make a large two color quilt. I get bored! I did a large shoo fly quilt with repetitive colors and I was so happy to be done and send it out to be quilted! Your quilt is going to be gorgeous.
And what is Groundhogday??
Looks like you a lot of winter too!! Yes it will be great with some warmer weather here too. Your quilt is so beautiful, You have have that in mind when it gets too booring..
Take care.
Brrrr...it DOES look cold there. Lovely, but cold! The "challenge" is coming along nicely!! Looking good!
xo
Beautiful blocks! I have trouble working with solids, and black and white would be really challenging for me, so I'm enjoying watching other people do this one! I love hexagon quilts.
Brrrr! Good stitching weather!
Your black and white quilt is going to be great. Lots of snow. Love the icicles. Stay warm.
this black and white quilt is going to be georgeous!! The good thing from winter is.. that we can have lots of creative ours!
hey you only lost a week! I think I lost most of December and a good part of November LOL It's like that scene from "5 Children And It" -losing October and a goose. :-)
The B/W blocks are looking so good. WhenI was going the octagons in 9 colours with the same grey square in between I had to keep putting it down and coming back to it. You have all year, so how about skiving a day here and there with something that inspires you?
P.S. I have serious porch envy- beautiful! :-)
this black & white quilt is going to be great....but I still think it looks hard!!
Your black and white tumbling blocks are looking great!
The blocks look great! Its freeezing cold here too.... It's hard getting up in the morning out of a warm bed to go out and walk them on the frozen streets of NYC... best to stay in and sew!
Hi, I have left you an award on my blogg. Thank you for always beeing such a great friend...
Your tumbling blocks are looking fantastic: they just pop right off the table-like faux painting. I can't wait until they're all done.
The tumbling blocks are beautiful! Are they hand sewn? I also enjoy hand quilting, last week I basted the Pinwheels top and the weather is just right for this handiwork! Hope you got the fabrics you were waiting for!
I love your black and white blocks...what a wonderful way to use black and white. Thanks for sharing the snow picture...we are to get a BIG snowstorm tomorrow ...maybe up to an inch!
I've never been able to 'get into' a black and white quilt. I love to look at them, but haven't been able to drum up the enthusiasm for making one myself. Yours is coming along so nicely!
Cheers,
Dionne
Oh tumbling blocks, I have always had it in my mind to attempt those but am too chicken :) Yours look great! Your picture of your home in the snow is beautiful!
I think your black and white quilt is going to be gorgeous! Just keep working on it, and before you know it, it will be finished. I'm sure your son is going to be very pleased!
