Christmas Lazy Daisies

Friday I go to Hitty Club and we will be having our Christmas party. I still have to get my little wooden dolls dressed and ready to go, but poor Betsy McCall did not have a new Christmas dress. I love my Betsy McCall doll. I think maybe it's because she reminds me of when I was a little girl. Mom used to bring home the McCall's magazines and I would sit for hours cutting out the paper Betsy and her clothes that were in that issue. Then when I'd have them all done, Mom would give me the wallpaper sample books and I would trace around all the little clothes and make all sorts of colorful outfits.

Anyway, this morning I stared on this:

Then I ran out to do a bit of shopping because the sun was shining and the weatherman said it was going to be the only nice day this week. I needed to get a few more things for the appetizers I'm going to make to take Friday, plus we were out of a list of things at home. Tomorrow it is supposed to snow.. so today sounded perfect. Guess everyone else had the same idea.. as the parking lots and store aisles were packed!

It was Holly&Jolly though.. lots of smiling faces. I like the little town of Salem where I do my shopping. The only thing missing is a fabric and a craft store. And I thought it very odd that they were building a new Auto Zone. Why do we need a parts store for cars? Maybe because no one is buying any new cars, and they are just buying parts to fix their old ones. I bet that's it. Anyways I did get two poinsettias.. they were only $2.19 each.

After I got home and put the groceries away I finished Betsy's dress..

It is really dark now so I had to use the flash.. but I didn't want to wait 'til tomorrow to show you. Now she just needs a cape. I hope I have time to make her one...

And thank you Ulla and Kathy and Melanie! for the badges. That Fabulous one is new for me :-) I don't know how I got so lucky to have met such wonderful friends here..

Tomorrow I'm baking cookies!

I would have liked a dress like that! We also used to play with paper dolls and I have a Golden Book of paper dolls, only without the dolls and the dresses now :-(
Have a nice time at the meeting.

The dress is absolutely adorable!! She just looks ready to go out on the town. Now for the life of me, I don't know why you didn't purchase any car parts? Hmmmm.....

Wow! Betsy' dress is wonderful! I know how beautiful your doll clothes are, so lucky Betsy!

There keep building Auto Zones, here, too, although another chain like that went out of business. Most cars require a computer tests for repair-- so I guess that people will be doing their own maintenance. My husband changes the oil in our cars--much to my chagrin--since I think he is too old to be under the front of a car!

Good deal on the poinsettias!

ooo cookies well if you're baking I'll be right over! LOL

I think early December is the errand part of the month before you settle into the wrapping cosy part of the month. Lovely poinsettias. They are pure Christmassy!

Betsy's dress is beautiful. I too remember fondly making clothes for my paper dolls. My girls (living in this high tech world) can't imagine WHY I would ever both playing with PAPER dolls. It was a different world we lived in!

I'm sure you will have a great time at your party.
Cheers,
Dionne

When I see something I love on a blog - my response is always the same "OH WOW". out loud - I'm doing more and more of that these days. The handwork is perfect and the dress couldn't be sweeter. Betsy is a beautiful doll. And in the dress she is stunning. I know your cape will be wowie. I made a red velvet cape with white furry lining for Tracey's American Doll one year and a Black velvet cape with red satin lining for Whitney's. They still have them. I hope! I am sure they do. Anyway that brings back good memories. Doll clothes are so lovely. I used to love to play paper dolls and make clothes too. I know that is where I got my love of fabric - from sewing at my mother's knee. Sweet Eileen - very sweet dress.
