This & That on a Friday

Let me tell you, I was totally surprised the other day when this was in my mailbox. You have seen these things before here and here and here. I remember commenting on Nanette's blog when she showed them, but I had NO idea she was actually making this awesome dish towel for me. It will never be used as a dish towel! It is laying on my quilting frame so I can admire it all the day long. The vintage bird fabric is SO special. And I love the "pepto" tea pots! The little matryoshka is filled with lavender.. one of my most favorite scents. Thank you my dear friend Nanette. :-) I LOVE everything.. and it was such a thoughtful present. Merry Christmas early!

Whew. I am in the middle of three different projects at the moment.. and this one looks like so much fun. Jackie at Canton Village Quilts is starting a new challenge.. (she has a new blog set up to join in) -to make something, anything, in blacks and whites, plus one other color added. We have a year to do it, so I'm IN. These are my fabrics that I've pulled so far. I am thinking of making two quilts since I have two grown boys who never get quilts made by their mother.. (if either of you guys are reading this, which I seriously doubt you are.. then just pretend to me you didn't). I just have to figure out the patterns I'm going to use, and the one additional color. FUN!

Ok. I have never embedded a video before, but this is so awesome. Hope it works. My daughter found it and showed it to me..(so boys, if you are still reading this, we were both thinking of you guys [and Uncle Randy too]).. A tribute to John Williams.. you know.. Star Wars, ET, Jaws, Indiana Jones. Make sure you read the captions as they come up. I think I've watched it three times now..

Isn't Nanette a generous lady? And you're so deserving, Eileen. Wow you have more black and whites than I do. Great start. That is an awesome video. I'm going to show my kids.

How wonderful of Nanette! Thanks for posting about the challenge. I love the fabric you picked. You should post that on the new blog so that everyone has a little inspiration! I am going to gather my black and white fabric together to take a picture and post it on the new blog. Cool Video

What a lovely gift!
I've signed up for that challenge. I think I should be able to come up with something within a year. LOL As usual it will probably be choosing the fabric which will take the longest! :-) Thanks for sharing the news abotu the challenge.

Lovely gifts! What a great video--fun to listen to! B & W quilt will be great.

What will your accent color be? A dear friend once made quilts for her sons in B & W. (They are all in the arts.) One had red, one had royal blue and one had lime green for the accent. One was log cabin, one was pin wheels and the one for the artist in the family was super abstract with stripes on the backing and dots for the sashing. I wonder if he could sleep under that?!

Wow is that kid talented or what! That was amazing., incredible.

I love the quilt on your frames. I love the colors and the black floss. Look how even and small your stitching is! Wowie.

Thank you Eileen. I'm glad you like the little goodies. It was fun making them for my friends. I feel silly with all the comments though ;-).

I love the black and white. This week I'm going to post the display I saw in a quilt shop over the weekend. - black/white and yellow! After looking at lily's blog today and her may flies I wonder if I could change them in to giant bees. Might be frightening though.
