Fern Bisel Peat - Vintage Illustrations

So I am thrilled to join in Pip's game this week. One of my favorite children's illustrators is Fern Bisel Peat (1893-1971). Here are some scans from my copy of "A Child's Garden of Verses" by Robert Louis Stevenson, copyright 1940. My book is not in very good condition; no cover, pages cut and torn or colored with crayons. It certainly prompts me to improve my collection of this wonderful illustrator. The Internet is full of her pictures. But the books are not easy to come by.

I'm hoping to post something from a vintage children's book every day this week, but also have my quilt to show you, so I will work that in too.
And looking forward to seeing what everyone else is showing!

I LOVE all of your vintage stuff - these illustrations are great. I sure wish I had time to join in all the fun everyone has challenging eachother on their blogs. For now, I will just enjoy reading the blogs - I never knew there were so many interesting folks out there! Happy Spring!

Oh these are lovely! I love Robert Louis Stevenson - especially The Land of Counterpane! I love it that your book is so well loved too!

Do you know, I've never even heard of Fern... as I tend to collect 1950s to 1970s children's books - so thank you for sharing this with us all!
